Charlottesville: 22-year-old man dead in shooting overnight in parking garage

A Charlottesville man is dead following a shooting overnight in the Water Street parking garage.

Jahaanz Wilson, 22, was pronounced deceased after he arrived at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

According to the Charlotteville Police Department, officers were called to the parking lot for the report of a shooting at 2:55 a.m. Police learned Wilson had been transported to the hospital when they arrived.

Detectives are actively investigating this incident as a homicide.

CPD has reason to believe that the victim was in the Downtown Mall area in the hours leading to this incident, and multiple individuals were in the immediate area at the time of the shooting.

Police believe this to be an isolated incident.
