Bridgewater College prof to participate in educators summit

bridgewaterDr. Jennie Carr, an assistant professor of elementary education at Bridgewater College, has been selected to participate in the 2014 Global SMART Exemplary Educators (SEE) Summit in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Seventy-six educators will participate in the Summit July 20–26 at SMART Technologies’ world headquarters in Calgary.

Now in its fifth year, the SEE Summit brings together leading-edge educators from the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, South Africa, europe and the middle east who have a passion for education technology and a desire to expand their skills.

The Summit will provide educators opportunity to participate in in-depth professional development, including: an advanced skills seminar and workshop on SMART Notebook 2014, a workshop on SMART amp collaborative learning software, a seminar on collaboration pedagogy and best practices and an exchange of knowledge in peer-led sessions.

Carr will also have the opportunity to provide input and feedback on new and upcoming SMART products initiatives.

“I am thrilled about my acceptance to the SMART Exemplary Educator Summit,” said Carr. “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to learn about the latest instructional technology and bring it back to our teacher candidates, who will then be able to use it with local students in the classroom. I’m looking forward to networking and collaborating with teachers around the world, who are passionate about using technology to enhance student learning.”

Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to approximately 1,800 undergraduate students.
