Visulite owner announces plans for Waynesboro movie-theater ‘omniplex’
A Downtown Staunton movie-theater owner is announcing this morning plans to build a 10-screen movie theater on Lew Dewitt Boulevard in Waynesboro.
“Given the broad range of entertainment options which will be available, I like to think of the complex an ‘omniplex’ rather than merely a multiplex,” said Adam Greenbaum, the owner of Visulite Cinemas in Staunton, whose planned theater complex would offer a run of entertainment options including mainstream Hollywood films and digital projection of live concerts, major sporting events and other popular entertainment.
The theater is proposed at a site near the Lowe’s home-improvement store in the West End. Greenbaum is partnering with Dewitt Crossing developer Brett Hayes on the project.
Greenbaum said the schedule is to have the complex open for business in November 2010.
The location is already zoned for commercial use.
“Since moving here five years ago and reopening the original Visulite Cinema in Staunton, my wife and I have developed a deep connection to this community. We intend to be here a very long time – presenting the very best entertainment,” Greenbaum said.
