Virginia Democratic Congressman Bobby Scott: Bobby Scott: Clinton’s New College Compact ‘comes just at the right time’

Bobby scottToday, Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03), the Ranking Member of the House Education & the Workforce Committee, praised Hillary Clinton’s New College Compact, highlighting how it prioritizes smart investments in American higher education to expand opportunity for students and their families.

A full statement from Congressman Scott endorsing Clinton’s plan is below:

“No one can deny the importance of a higher education these days in helping more people achieve the American Dream.  Unfortunately the cost of a higher education today can be a barrier for many families. Secretary Clinton’s proposal to make higher education affordable comes just at the right time and demonstrates the tough budget choices that are necessary to ensure more students can access and pay for college.  It’s a matter of simple priorities.  We can make college affordable for more families or we can keep  extending tax loopholes and tax cuts for the wealthy.  I look forward to working with Secretary Clinton on this initiative and others that offer students and families the path to affordable higher education.”
