World renowned artist P. Buckley Moss has painted an exclusive watercolor print to show her support for WVPT and Public Television. For more than three decades, the Waynesboro native has created and donated an exclusive print to WVPT. Each year, prints of the original are made and sold exclusively through WVPT, with all proceeds going towards programming, operations and services provided by the viewer supported PBS affiliate. Due to recent downward trends in public funding for PBS stations nationwide, this year’s print is more important than ever.

The 2012 exclusive WVPT Moss print, “The Blue and The Gray” pays homage to the sesquicentennial anniversary of the Civil War. It also pays tribute to the Shenandoah Valley and the vital role it played during the dark years of the Civil War. WVPT will unveil this year’s exclusive print Thursday night, April 12th “on air” during Ken Burn’s The Civil War” documentary. WVPT President and General Manager David Mullins is thrilled with this year’s print. “WVPT is again so grateful to Pat Moss for her generosity in providing another exclusive, limited edition print for the station.  This Civil War themed print should appeal to Pat Moss fans and also Civil War collectors.  Funds raised from the sale of these prints will help WVPT continue to bring educational and arts programming to our viewers.”

P. Buckley Moss is known around the world for her unique signature painting style, as well as her inspirational and family oriented subject matter.  Moss firmly believes in the positive impact art can have in people’s lives.  “I am dedicated to painting the hope of the future-hope that seeds positive thoughts of love, family and the beauty of the world”. During the course of her career, donations of P. Buckley Moss art have raised over four million dollars for worthy charities. The P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education is devoted to promoting the use of art in the classroom, especially as a means to teach children with learning differences.

“The Blue and The Gray” print depicts a lone Civil War cannon sitting vigilantly at the edge of a secluded forest. The battle is long over, but the legacy of  war lingers throughout our history. The union and confederate flags hang majestically in the pink azure sky. Each flag pays a solemn tribute to the fallen and forgotten heroes from one of America’s darkest chapter. Measurements of the print are 10″ x 16.25″

WVPT viewers will be able to purchase copies of  “The Blue and The Gray” by calling (540) 437-2444 or (540) 434-5391. or  order online through wvpt.net.
