Foundation for the Humanities to host Folklife Apprenticeship Showcase

The Virginia Folklife Apprenticeship Program, now in its seventh year, has drawn from a wide range of communities and traditional folkways to pair master artists and apprentices for a nine-month learning experience.

The Folklife Apprenticeship Program will help to ensure that Virginia’s treasured folkways not only continue, but receive new life and vibrancy, engage new learners and reinvigorate master practitioners. This year’s Apprenticeship Showcase, scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 1-5 p.m., will celebrate our sixth graduating class of apprentices, and publicly recognize our 2009-2010 Virginia Folk Masters.

There will be music and demonstrations by our master artists and apprentices.

Free Virginia Folklife food and drink, including real Brunswick stew and fried apple pies…and more!

The event will be held at the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities office, 145 Ednam Drive, Charlottesville.Free and open to the public, rain or shine
