Del LandesThe American Conservative Union announced the results of its ratings from the 2015 meeting of the Virginia General Assembly. Del. Steve Landes received an 87% rating for the 2015 General Assembly Session and holds a lifetime ACU rating of 89%.

“I am honored to be acknowledged with an “Award for Conservative Achievement” from the American Conservative Union,” stated Landes. “The ACU is a leading proponent of the conservative principles that guide my voting and I appreciate their recognition of my efforts to keep the Commonwealth on a path of fiscal responsibility and prosperity.”

ACU researches and selects a wide range of bills that reflect a member’s adherence to conservative principles.  It selects bills that focus on former President Ronald Reagan’s philosophy of the “three-legged stool”: 1) fiscal and economic: taxes, budgets, regulation, spending, healthcare, and property; 2) social and cultural: 2nd Amendment, religion, life, welfare, and education; and 3) government integrity: voting, individual liberty, privacy, and transparency.

The range of issues selected have been specifically designed to convey to voters the most accurate assessment of Virginia’s elected officials who can be counted on to defend the principles of a free society: Life, Liberty, and Property.

Legislators who scored above 80% in ACU’s 2015 Ratings of the Virginia General Assembly will receive awards for their hard work toward passage of legislation that reflects conservative principles.

“Governor McAuliffe’s liberal policies have been rejected at the ballot box as conservatives in the General Assembly were rewarded for fighting his Obama-friendly measures,” said ACU Chairman, Matt Schlapp.  “Although the legislature was unable to override any of the 17 votes McAuliffe vetoed, there are many conservatives who are fighting to make positive reforms.  Our ratings highlight the conservatives who consistently fight for the principles we share.”

Founded in 1964, the American Conservative Union (ACU) is the nation’s original conservative organization. For more than fifty years, ACU has served as an umbrella organization harnessing the collective strength of conservative organizations fighting for Americans who are concerned with liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values, and strong national defense.

As America’s premier conservative voice, ACU is the leading entity in providing conservative positions on issues to Congress, the Executive Branch, State Legislatures, the media, political candidates, and the public. – See more at: conservative.org/who-we-are.
