Tonight’s UVa.-VCU Top 25 matchup is a classic clash of styles. Virginia would love the game to be in the 50s or low 60s; VCU would prefer a game in the 80s. Who controls the pace will determine who wins the game. OK, so we knew that already. Who controls the pace? I like Virginia, and here’s why: defense.

Mark Herring now in lead in attorney general race

Democrat Mark Herring picked up significantly in a review of votes cast in Richmond, and has taken the lead in the still-too-close-to-call Virginia attorney general race. Herring leads Republican Mark Obenshain by 117 votes. Localities are expected to have their numbers in to the State Board of Elections by the close of the day on Tuesday.

UVa. receives #1 seed in NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament

The Virginia women’s soccer team received the No. 1 seed in the 2013 NCAA Tournament and will open play at home on Friday as it hosts Saint Francis (Pa.). Game time at Klöckner Stadium is set for 7 p.m. This season marks the 16th time in the past 20 years that the Cavaliers have hosted NCAA Tournament play at Klöckner Stadium.

Thomas Jefferson, From Boy to Man author to take part in book events

Author Jayne D’Alessandro-Cox, a resident of Keswick, is taking part in several events this month to sign copies of her book, Thomas Jefferson, From Boy to Man. The book is based on historical fact, which spans over seven decades. The informative documentary and numerous rare photos present the reader with a glimpse into the life of Thomas, the boy.
