
Route 29 Solutions Traffic Alerts: Week of July 27-31

Highway work in the Lynchburg VDOT District requiring road/lane./structure closures is scheduled, weather permitting.

The final portion of the Southeast Connector in Rockingham County opened on July 22. Route 280 (Stone Spring Road) is now open between Route 710 (Reservoir Street) at Sentara RMH Medical Center and Route 33 east (Spotswood Trail).

On Tuesday, July 21, the Virginia Department of Transportation will close Route 671 (Millington Road) in western Albemarle County to replace a structurally deficient storm drainage pipe under the roadway.

Motorists should be alert for overnight left lane closures this week on northbound Interstate 81 near the West Virginia state line. These closures are scheduled for the nights of July 20-22 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.while crews to clean up a fuel spill in the median along the West Virginia portion of I-81.

Paving work will be done on Berkmar Drive in Albemarle County from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday and Wednesday through Friday.

The Virginia Department of Transportation will close a portion of Route 649 (Proffit Road) in Albemarle County beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 20.

Paving operations will take place on northbound Interstate 81 between exit 227 and the Middle River Bridge and at the ramps at exit 227, exit 235 and the rest area at mile marker 233 in Augusta County.
