Earlier this month, an alarm about Virginia’s razor-close Attorney General’s race sounded in some Democratic circles. Adam Swerver, in an article posted on the MSNBC website, declared that even if the defeat of Republican candidate Mark Obenshain is confirmed in a recount, he might still be able to have himself declared the winner.

Chris Graham: Keeping up with the Kardashians … at Sears?

So I’m watching TV tonight, and I see the Kardashians on a commercial. Excuse me, a k-ommercial. The commercial, er, kommercial, was advertising the reality divas’ Sears line, which I assume is new. I do a quick web search, and I find an article saying that Sears has already begun slashing prices on the overhyped Kardashian Kollection.

There is no program or service for which public dollars can be invested that will have a greater return than those invested in young children. People who work in early childhood and day care programs have known intuitively and anecdotally for a long time that children in their programs were much more likely to be successful by a number of different measures than were children who did not have access to their programs.

Schools could benefit from change to Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit

More than 1,200 of Virginia’s school buildings and facilities are 40 years or older according to a new study ordered by Gov. Bob McDonnell and concluded at the beginning of this month. The governor ordered the report in August in to demonstrate how a change to the Federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit could benefit the Commonwealth.

Augusta County Historical Society program focuses on Jack Jouett

On Saturday, Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. until noon, the Augusta County Historical Society is sponsoring Staunton storyteller and folk musician Bill Wellington in a program on the second floor of the R.R. Smith Center for History & Art. Wellington is hoping that his program, “Poetic Justice,” will finally give this Revolutionary patriot his just due.
