JMU basketball loses to Milwaukee, 77-66

Jordan Aaron had five of Milwaukee’s 11 three-pointers as part of a 24-point effort as James Madison fell 77-66 on the second day of the NIU Invitational on Saturday at the NIU Convocation Center. UWM improved to 3-1 with its third straight victory and second of the invitational. JMU fell to 1-2 in the first meeting between the programs.

VMI basketball tops Bluefield State, 121-80

QJ Peterson had 25 points, including 20 in the first half and 12 straight at one point, and Jordan Weethee went 7 for 7 from the field, including 6 of 6 from three-point range, for a career-high 20 points to pace the VMI Keydets to a 121-80 win over the Bluefield State Blues Saturday afternoon at Cameron Hall.

Top-Seeded UVa. women’s soccer defeats Saint Francis 5-0 in NCAA tourney

The top-seeded UVa. women’s soccer team opened play in the 2013 NCAA Tournament with a 5-0 victory over Saint Francis (Pa.) Friday night in front of 1,611 fans at Klöckner Stadium. Sophomore forward Makenzy Doniak (Chino Hills, Calif.) recorded her first career hat trick to lead the Cavaliers (21-1) into the second round.

Mark Obenshain: ‘It could still go either way’

Democrat Mark Herring is declaring victory and calling himself “attorney general-elect,” but Republican Mark Obenshain isn’t close to throwing in the towel. “No matter what Mark Herring says, with this margin, nobody can predict which of us will be sworn in as Virginia’s next attorney general. It still could go either way. There’s a lot at stake, and I’m not about to give up now,” Obenshain said.

Mark Herring claims narrow win in attorney general race

The week-long review of votes, locality by locality, is complete, and Democrat Mark Herring has a 106-vote lead in the Virginia attorney general race over Republican Mark Obenshain. The State Board of Elections will certify the vote on Monday, Nov. 25, at which point we can almost certainly expect to see the Obenshain campaign file for a recount.
