Contributors

william (bill) patchWashington and Lee University professor William (Bill) Patch will give an author talk on May 2 at 5 p.m. in Leyburn Library in the Book Nook.

Patch will speak about his recently published book, “Christian Democratic Workers and the Forging of German Democracy, 1920-1980.” The talk is free and open to the public; there will be refreshments provided.

Patch is the William R. Kenan Professor of History at W&L. He is the author of many monographs and articles, including “Heinrich Brüning and the Dissolution of the Weimar Republic” (Cambridge University Press, 1998).

His book book illuminates the pivotal role played by the half million veterans of the Christian trade unions of the Weimar Republic, who sought with great success after 1945 to alleviate class conflict through welfare legislation and worker participation in management.

The University Library has been asked by the History Department to facilitate one last author talk of the year! Here is all of the information. Feel free to share:

His talk is part of the Anne and Edgar Basse Jr. Author Talk Series, and is presented by the University Library.
