The Waynesboro Police Department is requesting assistance from the public to help identify two individuals involved in a credit card forgery and fraud spree.

Over the weekend, the man and woman team racked up nearly $4,000 in purchases from stores in Waynesboro, Harrisonburg and Albemarle County using a cloned credit card.  The credit card information was stolen from a Waynesboro woman who alerted police when she discovered the bogus charges.

On Tuesday, the 36-year-old victim reported that she had been notified about several unauthorized purchases on her credit card that had been made between Nov. 14-16.  The purchases were made in several area stores from Harrisonburg to Albemarle County including $2,400 in purchases at seven Waynesboro stores.

The dates and stores visited by the suspects are as follows:

November 14, Charlottesville/Albemarle County

  • Kroger
  • Harris Teeter
  • Game Stop, Barracks Road
  • Game Stop, Hollymead
  • Target

November 14, Waynesboro

  • Target
  • Walmart

November 15, Waynesboro

November 16, Waynesboro

November 16, Harrisonburg

The suspects’ images were captured on several of the store’s surveillance systems. Both are African American.  In several pictures, the suspects are seen pushing a baby stroller. The Police Department is hoping members of the community will recognize them and notify police.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Officer Travis Kimmell with the Waynesboro Police Department at (540) 942-6675 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 322-2017.  Information given to Crime Stoppers may be given anonymously.  Callers with information that lead to an arrest in this case are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
