Waynesboro Police Department honors Class of 1985 veterans

30 Year VetsThe Waynesboro Police Department took time Monday to honor five department members who all celebrated their respective 30-year anniversaries with the Police Department in 2015.

The members of the Class of 1985 (pictured left to right):

  • Captain Kelly L. Walker, Services Division Commander
  • Captain J.W. Oliver, Jr., Patrol Division Commander
  • Mrs. Jeanie Surratt, Office Manager
  • Officer Walter E. Wallace, Patrol Officer (former WHS School Resource Officer & DARE Officer)
  • Corporal Steven L. Byrd, Patrol Supervisor

“These outstanding individuals represent a combined 150 years of loyal service to the Waynesboro community.  Throughout their careers, they have selflessly given of themselves to protect the quality of life that our citizens expect and enjoy today,” said Waynesboro Police Chief Michael Wilhelm. “I was lucky to have been mentored by each one of them and I feel privileged to be able to call them colleagues.”
