Augusta County Supervisor Scott Seaton said the Wawa store at Tinkling Spring Road and Goose Creek Road in Fishersville will open in April or May 2025.
A popular gas station found primarily in the Richmond and Fredericksburg area in Virginia is coming to Waynesboro, according to site plans filed online.
As part of its Virginia expansion, Wawa is looking to add locations on Interstate 64 and Interstate 81.
A nearly 6,000-square feet location is planned at 105 Hopeman Parkway in Waynesboro.
Wawa projects to open up to seven stores in 2025 with its westward expansion into Virginia in Prince Edward, Frederick, Augusta and Rockingham counties.
In 2023, there was discussion in Augusta County about a Wawa location located at Tinkling Spring Road and Goose Creek Road in Fishersville. The status of that project is unknown.
According to construction plans, the Waynesboro location will include 50 parking spaces, and the building will be 5,915 square feet. Construction plans were finalized in July, according to the development plan. Bidding on the project closed on Oct. 23.
Wawa has more than 100 convenience stores in Virginia with three in the Charlottesville area on Pantops, Seminole Trail and Proffit Road.
A Wawa store opened in Winchester in November. The Winchester store is also part of Wawa’s expansion further west to new counties. Two additional Winchester stores are projected to open by the third quarter of 2025.
Five more stores in Virginia were projected to open before the end of the year in Ruther Glen, Midlothian, Suffolk, Manassas and Mechanicsville.
Additional locations being discussed in Virginia include Lynchburg, Woodford, Lexington and Waverly.
Wawa offers promotions for free coffee on designated days to veterans and teachers. It is most known for its coffee and hoagie sandwiches.
