This item about Beth Macy having a new campaign jingle has me thinking of the moment The Soggy Bottom Boys started belting out “I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow” at a rally for Pappy O’Daniel.

Beth Macy Goes to Washington” features vocals from Elsa Howell, a Roanoke native who has been a featured performer at the Richmond Folk Festival, Roanoke’s Taubman Museum of Art and the Floyd Country Store.

A snippet of the song will get airplay on radio stations in the Roanoke, Harrisonburg and DC markets beginning today.

“I love this song. It really captures the energy of the campaign, especially my driving everywhere on the dreaded I-81,” said Macy, who is challenging MAGA Republican incumbent Ben Cline for the Sixth District seat in Congress.

“It’s fun and catchy, a real earworm. It hits all the right notes, from addressing real concerns to giving people hope,” Macy said.
