A North Chesterfield man pled guilty to burglary today after breaking into a post office last summer and stealing three duffel bags full of mail.
Elijah Holmes, 25, will be sentenced on Aug. 21. He faces up to five years in prison.
According to court documents, on June 7, 2024, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department responded to a reported break in at a U.S. Post Office in North Chesterfield.
When officers arrived, they observed Holmes wearing a ski mask and rubber gloves. He was carrying three duffel bags full of mail he had just stolen, including letters, envelopes and other mail items addressed to more than 700 individuals.
A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors.
