A Missouri woman pleaded guilty Tuesday for her role in a scheme to sell Graceland, Elvis Presley’s home in Memphis, Tenn.
Lisa Jeanine Findley, 53, used a fake company and forged documents to claim that Presley’s daughter had pledged Graceland as collateral for a loan she failed to repay before her death.
According to court records, Findley threatened to foreclose on Graceland and auction it to the highest bidder if Elvis Presley’s family did not pay or settle the claim against the estate.
Findley pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud. She faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
A charge of aggravated identity theft will be dismissed.
Findley has a long history of financial and romance scams, forged checks and bank fraud, according to court documents.
She is scheduled to be sentenced on June 18.
