At 11:05 a.m. Sunday, Virginia State Police were notified of a suspicious package discovered at the VDOT Workers’ Memorial on Interstate 64 near Afton Mountain.
Virginia State Police bomb technicians responded to the scene and through their investigation determined the package was part of a GPS geo cache hunt.
By 6 p.m. the memorial was cleared and re-opened to the travelling public.
