VCU made it eight straight, getting 18 points from grad-student forward Jack Clark and 17 from freshman center Luke Bamgboye to dispatch Davidson, 80-56, on Friday night at the Siegel Center.
The Rams (24-5, 14-2 A-10, NET: 29) maintain their position at the top of the A-10 standings heading into the final week of the regular season with the win.
VCU seized control of this one early, opening the game on a 16-1 scoring run in the opening five minutes.
Davidson (16-13, 6-10 A-10) closed to 22-15 on the second of back-to-back post buckets from center Zach Laput, but VCU finished out the first 20 minutes on a 21-4 burst that sent the Rams into the locker room with a 43-19 lead.
Key to the final outcome: VCU had 15 offensive rebounds, which translated into nine more shot attempts from the field.
VCU has the inside track on the #1 seed in the A-10 Tournament by virtue of its 70-54 win over George Mason (22-6, 13-2 A-10, NET: 65) last week in Richmond.
Mason is on the road today at Duquesne (12-16, 7-8 A-10).
