Update: Winter Weather Advisory extended to Tuesday morning

The Winter Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service for the Augusta County area has been extended to 10 a.m. Tuesday. The area is in line to receive two to four inches of snow, with locally heavier amounts along ridges possible.

The local snow forecast is a far cry from the two to three feet of snow possible in the Northeast from the same storm. Temperatures hovering on either side of the freezing mark will have rain and snow mixing into the early afternoon hours today before the precipitation changes over entirely to snow later in the day.

The heaviest snow is expected tonight.
