Chris Graham

ymcaThe Staunton-Augusta Family YMCA confirmed that two more employees helping to prepare for the YMCA’s re-opening have tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total of positive cases to three for the week.

Due to healthcare privacy laws, the YMCA will not name the three employees.

All three employees have been quarantined, as well as other staff members who may have had contact with the employees. A professional cleaning crew spent both Tuesday and Wednesday disinfecting the YMCA building. The cleaning company is expected to finish the cleanse on Thursday. The main building has been closed to employees since the announcement of the first case on Tuesday.

“Our chief concern here remains the health of our staff, our members and this community,” Staunton-Augusta Family YMCA executive director Josh Cole said.

With the announcement of the two additional cases, Cole says he is working with local health officials and taking aggressive measures to help thwart the spread of the coronavirus.
