Update | Ben Cline ‘town hall’ now supposedly being livestreamed

You’re still not going to be able to attend the Ben Cline “town hall” in Lexington this week unless you’re a MAGA acolyte, but you can watch it on a livestream.

Maybe.

More on that in a sec.

Tip of the cap to Gene Zitver, editor of ClineWatch, for catching the update on this one – which the Cline people snuck into the “press release” posted on the congressman’s website announcing the “town hall” last week.

I call it a “press release,” but a real-life “press release” is actually, you know, released to the press, not hidden on an inside page on a website.

By the time word actually got out about the town hall, which will go down on Thursday in Lexington, all the spots in the tiny room at the Rockbridge County Courthouse reserved for the event had been claimed, ostensibly by folks who somehow got the advance word.

The “town hall” – I’m putting quotation marks around the words, because it’s not really a town hall unless it’s open to everybody in town – will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The livestream, they tell us, will be on Cline’s Facebook page.

Maybe.

I’m hedging because of the obvious – the “press release” announcing the “town hall” tells us that “due to courthouse policy, cell phones, smart phones, iPads, iPods, or other electronic devices are not permitted inside the venue.”

How they’ll be able to livestream this “town hall” without any of those devices at their disposal is anybody’s best guess.
