The United Way of Greater Augusta is opening up a mid-year funding process to community agencies through Community Impact Mini-Grants that will distribute $50,000 in an open application process to agencies across the Greater Augusta region.
The grants are aimed at programs and services that impact the demands related to the increased needs associated with the economic challenges facing the people in Greater Augusta. All grants will be a minimum of $1,000 and not to exceed $5,000.
“The United Way of Greater Augusta believes that it is critical to be a catalyst in improving the lives of the people of our community,” said Cynthia Pritchard, the executive director of United Way of Greater Augusta. “To that end, we made a conscious decision to make this money available through a mini-grant application process”.
The application for the mini-grants is available on the United Way of Greater Augusta’s new interactive website. It can be reached by going to www.unitedwayga.org. “Our website is a brand new, with up-to-date information on events and opportunities such as the Community Mini-Grants, ” Pritchard said. “The website is interactive with links to our Facebook, Linkedin, and Twitter pages.”
The completive grant process includes a one-page short form application for existing partner agencies and an extended form application for prospective agencies. Deadline for the Community Impact Mini-Grant submission is Oct. 9, 2009.
