Pedestrian suffers life-threatening injuries after being struck by train in Orange

policeVirginia State Police Trooper F.W. Stanley responded to a pedestrian being struck by a train in the town of Orange. The incident occurred Thursday at 6:10 p.m. near the intersection of May Fray Avenue and Barbour Street.

A Norfolk Southern train was traveling south when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing the railroad tracks. The pedestrian was traveling east.

The pedestrian, Ronald E. Snead, 63, of Orange, Va., was flown to UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville with life threatening injuries.

The Norfolk Southern train remained on scene.

The incident remains under investigation.

Virginia State Police was assisted by the Orange Police Department and Orange County Fire and Rescue Department.
