Midlothian man dead due to head injuries in assault; police ask for help identifying suspect

A Midlothian man is dead after head injuries sustained after an altercation in Richmond on West Marshall Street Saturday night.

Jacob Baldwin, 26, of Midlothian, died yesterday due to injuries sustained in an aggravated assault incident this weekend, according to Richmond Police.

Officers were called to the 1100 block at 2:14 a.m. Saturday night. Officers arrived and located Baldwin down and unresponsive at the intersection of West Marshall and North Sheppard streets. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives believe Baldwin was struck by another male at the location following an altercation which is believed to have started Friday night and early Saturday morning in the Scott’s Addition neighborhood.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
