A Florida woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on East Midland Trail in Rockbridge County.

Melodie Vohar, 78, died at the scene. A passenger in the Jaguar, a 78-year-old male, is in critical condition in a Roanoke hospital in a medically induced coma.

Virginia State Police originally said the man was not injured in the crash.

The accident took place at 3:06 p.m. at the intersection of Memorial Lane.

A Jaguar, driven by Vohar, failed to yield the right-of-way while entering East Midland Trail and was struck by a Honda Civic which was traveling east on Midland Trail, according to a report from the Virginia State Police.

A 19-year-old female driver and a 24-year-old male passenger of the Civic were not wearing their seatbelts and were injured. Both were transported to a local hospital. Their current condition was not provided by VSP.

The crash remains under investigation.
