Nobody’s hurt. George Mason Basketball has just, fallen off the face of the earth, in a manner of speaking.
The Patriots lost again on Wednesday, 81-62, at Saint Joseph’s – their fourth L in a row, fifth in their last six, and Mason is just 3-6 since getting out to an 18-1 start.
The last four losses have all been by double-digits, sending Mason (21-7, 9-6 A-10, NET: 102) way, way, way off any NCAA Tournament bubble, where it had resided up through the beginning of the month.
To wit: back on Feb. 1, the morning after its come-from-behind win at St. Bonaventure, Mason’s average computer ranking was 53.9, which is Last Four Out/Second Four Out territory.
With last night’s loss, the average computer ranking is at 89.8.
Feel bad for Tony Skinn and his crew here.
Riley Allenspach matched his A-10 personal best with 23 points in the loss, which, this one was over by halftime, which saw Saint Joseph’s (18-10, 10-5 A-10, NET: 141) in the locker room with a 44-25 lead.
