Fox News poll: Americans want government shutdown to end

Chris Graham

economic-forecast-headerA new Fox News poll shows overwhelming support for getting the federal government up and running again.

Seventy-three percent of those surveyed think Congress’ top priority should be ending the federal government shutdown. Just 21 percent said the top priority for lawmakers should be stopping ObamaCare from being implemented.

The Affordable Care Act, styled ObamaCare by Republicans, actually already went into effect on Tuesday.

Other numbers of interest here:

  • 72 percent of those surveyed opposed the effort by the GOP to shut the government down over ObamaCare, with 25 percent supporting the move.
  • 81 percent called the shutdown a “serious problem.”
  • 53 percent oppose efforts to defund ObamaCare in the new federal budget, with 41 percent supporting that idea.
