The Paramount Theater in Charlottesville will host Indigo Girls on stage on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m.

The multi-Grammy-winning duo of Emily Saliers and Amy Ray has recorded 16 studio albums, sold more than 15 million records and built a dedicated, enduring following across the globe.

Their latest record, Look Long, is a stirring and eclectic collection of songs that finds the duo reunited in the studio with their strongest backing band to date.

“We joke about being old, but what is old when it comes to music? We’re still a bar band at heart,” said Saliers. “While our lyrics and writing approach may change, our passion for music feels the same as it did when we were 25 years old. As time has gone on, our audience has become more expansive and diverse, giving me a sense of joy.”

Committed and uncompromising activists, they work on issues like immigration reform (El Refugio), LGBTQ advocacy, education (Imagination Library), death penalty reform and Native American rights. They are co-founders of Honor the Earth, a non-profit dedicated to the survival of sustainable Native communities, Indigenous environmental justice and green energy solutions.

Ticket prices include $1 donation to the artist’s charity, First Peoples Fund.

The Paramount Theater is located at 215 E. Main St. in Charlottesville.

Tickets start at $50.75.

Tickets are on sale at www.theparamount.net, or by calling (434) 979-1333.

Leave Dianna Russini alone: Sportswriters, coaches, happen to like hot tubs

I’m totally on the side of Dianna Russini in this generated controversy over her being caught holding hands, hugging and lounging in a hot tub with New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel. Seriously, what sportswriter isn’t holding hands, hugging and lounging in hot tubs with coaches they cover? Just last week, for instance, Ryan Odom,...
