Come party at the Staunton Public Library!

staunton2editsThe Staunton Public Library will celebrate its 20th anniversary at 1 Churchville Avenue  on Saturday, January 24, from 2-4 pm. The Library was previously located at 19 S. Market Street, now home of Grace Christian High School and Community Fellowship Church, for over 50 years, from 1941 through 1994.   Following a year long renovation of the former Thomas Jefferson Grammar School (built in 1916) and a three week moving process, the Library reopened in its new home on Wednesday, January 25, 1995.

During the party, visitors can enjoy refreshments and reminisce over photos of the old days.   It will be “open house”  in offices, so patrons can wander around the building and learn what goes on behind the scenes, see what the Library offers in technology and learn about the Talking Book Center.  Conceptual designs for the library of the future will be on display.

Library Director Ruth Arnold said, “The Staunton Public Library has been at the heart of our community since it was founded in 1874, but never more so than in the last 20 years when we have been in this historic old building at a crossroads of  Route 250 and Highway 11.   We have seen a lot of changes over the years, with more to come.  We look forward to seeing lots of our friends, old and new, at this party.”

The Staunton Public Library is located at 1 churchville avenue. For more information, please call (540) 332-3902.
