Ripples, the Bridgewater College yearbook, has won first-place honors in a national competition sponsored by the College Point, N.Y.,-based American Scholastic Press Association.
The 2008 edition of Ripples competed with hundreds of college yearbooks from across the nation in the category of colleges with fewer than 5,000 students. It was judged on criteria that included page design, story layout, graphics, headlines, cover design, advertising placement and photography.
“I’m very proud of last year’s staff,” said Anita Cook, professor of English at Bridgewater College and the 2008 faculty adviser for Ripples. “We made a really careful effort to improve in all areas, and their hard work paid off.”
The ’08 BC yearbook focused on the theme of “harmony,” emphasizing the ways in which the college – from student life and sports to academics – “promotes an environment of harmony among all in the College community.”
Editors for the 2008 Ripples were Lindsay Nash, a junior, of Centreville, Va., and Ali Moats, a senior, from Shippensburg, Pa. The assistant editor was Ashley Reid, a senior, from Purcellville, Va.
