Augusta County Library events celebrate the fall season

Contributors

augusta-county2editsTo celebrate the arrival of fall, the Augusta County Library is hosting free Saturday events throughout the county.

Fall Fun Day will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 18 at the Churchville Branch Library and 1 p.m., Saturday, October 25 at the Fishersville Library. Children of all ages will decorate locally grown pumpkins, play games, and make a scarecrow. Participants should bring old clothing for their scarecrow—the library will provide the stuffing.

Deerfield Library Station’s Harvest Décor Workshop will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 18.  Participants should bring their own container or form. The library will provide the greenery and other materials to complete the project.

Craigsville and Middlebrook Library Stations will both host a Scarecrow Create & Construct Workshop at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 25. Designed for children age three to grade five with an adult, this program will allow participants to turn their old clothes into a scarecrow to take home. The scarecrows can be used for both indoor and outdoor decoration.

Children’s librarian Tammy Coulter says, “Making a scarecrow at the library has become a fall tradition for many local families—and the library staff enjoys seeing the children’s creativity.”

Registration is not required for any of these fall themed programs, but parents should accompany children under the age of 13.

These programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Augusta County Library, a nonprofit organization who supplements library events with funds raised through memberships, donations and an ongoing book sale. For additional information about Augusta County Library and its programs, contact the library at 540-885-3961 or visit www.AugustaCountyLibrary.org.
