ACC basketball weekly honors are determined by a vote of a select media panel.
Pitt’s Artis scored a game-high 29 points to go along with eight rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal to lead a come-from-behind 79-73 win over visiting Western Carolina. The 6-foot-7 Baltimore native went 10-of-14 from the field and 8-of-8 from the foul line as the Panthers improved to 10-1 on the season. The ACC Player of the Week honor is the second for Artis, who was also recognized once as a sophomore last season.
Bacon recorded his first career double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds in Florida State’s only game last week – a 75-64 victory over Charleston Southern. The Lakeland, Florida, freshman scored 20 points in 26 minutes played, shot .571 from the field (8-of-14), was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line and totaled one assist. Bacon’s 10 rebounds all came on the defensive end as Florida State outrebounded the Buccaneers by a 41-27 margin. The ACC Rookie of the Week selection is the third overall for Bacon, tying the FSU school record also held by Bob Sura (1991-92) and Michael Joiner (2000-01).
