turner gillOverall thoughts on the game…

“It was just a great game by our football team to finish the season off in a tremendous way. I’m so very proud of how they responded. Every single football game, our guys have responded. As far as giving a great effort on every play, every week, no matter what the circumstances are, the next guy who came in to play responded. That’s what I’m so proud of about this football team. They came together in a great way. It’s very pleasing to see that from start to finish.”

On inaugural FBS season…

“It’s a great accomplishment (getting six wins). We have a long way to go, but we are going to continue working hard to do the things we need to do to continue to build the brand of this football team and this university. That’s what it’s all about, continuing to train Champions for Christ.”

On the defensive effort…

“They have improved this year. They have done a fantastic job. There aren’t a whole lot of defenses who can slow down offenses across the country. We’ve had our ups and downs through the season but to finish this thing off the right way the last two games is all we can ask for. We definitely have improved as a football team. Overall, when they had to make plays today, they made plays. They caused turnovers, which was huge. They did what they needed to do in this ballgame.”

On the senior class…

“They have all been a part of some special moments, including beating No. 1 Coastal Carolina in 2014 to give us our first opportunity to go into the FCS Playoffs. They compete every day in practice and every day in games. They set the standard. We have shown the country that we can compete.”
