uva-logo-new2The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today the men’s basketball league opponents for all 15 institutions for the 2013-14 season. Virginia’s home slate is highlighted by home contests against Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Syracuse.

In addition, Virginia announced today a home-and-home series with VCU beginning with a home contest at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville in 2013-14. The two teams will meet the following year at VCU. Virginia and VCU will play each other for the first time since the 1998-99 season.

“The ACC schedule will be as challenging as ever, especially with the additions of Pitt, Notre Dame and Syracuse,” Virginia head coach Tony Bennett said. “Our fans played a key role in our success at John Paul Jones Arena last season. With the addition of VCU to our non-conference schedule, we’re going to need them to once again create a great home court advantage at JPJ.”

Virginia will face each of the 14 conference opponents, including newcomers Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse during the 18-game league schedule. In addition, the Cavaliers will play Florida State, Maryland, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech two times each.

The Cavaliers will play nine home games and nine away contests during ACC regular season action. Virginia will host Boston College, Florida State, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

Virginia will travel to Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Maryland, NC State, Notre Dame, Pitt and Virginia Tech for away contests.

Virginia’s entire 2013-14 men’s basketball schedule will be released at a later date.

Virginia returns 10 letterwinners from last season’s team that posted a 23-12 record, including a 20-2 record at John Paul Jones Arena, and advanced to the National Invitational Tournament. The letterwinners will be joined by redshirt sophomores Malcolm Brogdon (Norcross, Ga.) and Anthony Gill (Charlotte, N.C.) and freshmen London Perrantes (Woodland Hills, Calif.) and Devon Hall (Virginia Beach, Va.).
