PPP: Obama leads in Virginia

Barack Obama maintains a small but healthy lead over Mitt Romney among Virginia voters, according to a new poll from Public Policy Polling.

Obama, a Democrat, leads Romney, a Republican, by a 50 percent-45 percent margin.

Obama has not led Romney by fewer than four points in 2012.

And the presence of former Republican Congressman Virgil Goode on the ballot in Virginia in November could complicate things for Romney even more. The latest PPP poll has Goode polling at 4 percent in Virginia, pulling almost entirely from Romney’s base of voters. A three-way race with Goode stands at Obama with 50 percent, Romney with 42 percent and Goode with his 4 percent.
