Veterans Day is a day to honor those who have served and continue to serve in uniform, as well as those who died in service to their country. Roughly 1 percent of our population serves in the military. As we consider the impact those individuals have had on the world, defending freedom and protecting democracy, I am reminded of the words of Winston Churchill, “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.” This Veterans Day, join me in thanking the brave men and women who have served our nation with honor, courage and commitment in order to protect our nation and our way of life.

Veterans Day isalso an opportunity to celebrate the choice one makes to serve their country. I thank those who came before me for setting the example that inspired me and many others to raise our hands in voluntary service to this great nation. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. I share your pride in having served in the greatest military in the world.

As Veterans Day approaches, remember to honor all of our brave men and women who have put theirlives on the line for our country, and pay tribute to those who did not make it back home to their families. We will never forget the courage and sacrifice that our veterans and their families have endured.
