Jim Webb: Met with Joe Biden, keeps substance private

jim-webbFormer Virginia U.S. Sen. Jim Webb said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that he met last month with Vice President Joe Biden, but stopped short of discussing the substance of the conversation, including whether Biden indicated whether or not he might be running for president in 2016.

“I think private meetings are best left that way,” said Webb, who himself is running for the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

“I wouldn’t get into another individual’s potential campaign, but it doesn’t surprise me that he is sitting down and talking to someone who has a strong record on economic fairness issues.”

Webb seemed to foretell the follow-up question, as to whether the discussion could have been about Webb’s interest in pairing with Biden as a possible running mate.

“You don’t want me as your vice president,” Webb said.
