The New Hope Landfill satellite location is being honored by the Augusta County Recycling Committee for having the highest percentage of recycled materials in February.

For the month of February, 8.8 percent of the total waste received at this location was recycled.

Augusta County has 10 satellite locations which provide citizen dropoff points for household trash and recyclables. Currently Augusta County recycles cardboard, mixed paper, aluminum cans, tin cans and glass at all locations.

The Recycling Committee is a Board of Supervisors-appointed committee that meets the third Tuesday of every month at 4 p.m. in the County Administrator’s Office. The committee addresses recycling needs, works to educate the public, and reviews monthly recycling data.

Augusta County encourages all citizens to recycle. Recycling saves landfill space and saves our precious resources. In 2009, 2500 cubic yards of space was saved by recycling paper, metals, cardboard and glass.

As a reminder, Augusta County is recycling plastics #1 – #7 at Augusta Regional Landfill.
