Believe it or not, our pets may be exposed to more harsh chemicals through the course of their day than we are. Researchers at the non-profit Environmental Working Group (EWG) found that pet dogs and cats were contaminated with 48 of 70 industrial chemicals tested, including 43 chemicals at levels higher than those typically found in people.

VMI dominates second half, knocks off Campbell, remains unbeaten in Big South

The VMI Keydets outscored the Campbell Camels by 25 points in the second half, shooting 62.5 percent from the field in the process, en route to a 76-57 win in Big South basketball action Wednesday night at Cameron Hall in Lexington, Va. With the victory, the Keydets win their fifth straight game and move into sole possession of first place in the Big South’s North Division, thanks to their first 4-0 conference start since the 2008-09 season.

AAA: Gas will cost less in 2013

Gasoline prices this year will be less expensive than in 2012 as a result of increased domestic oil production and lower demand, according to AAA. The national average price of gasoline should peak at $3.60-$3.80 per gallon barring any significant unanticipated events, which compares to a peak of $3.94 a gallon in 2012.
