Staunton implements new citizen alert system

The City of Staunton announced last week the inauguration of the Everbridge system for citizen alerts. This new system will communicate with thousands of businesses and residents in the event of an emergency. Everbridge is an interactive communication and mass notification platform that helps organizations save lives, manage critical activities and improve the efficiency of daily operations.

AAA: Downward trend in gas prices to continue through Thanksgiving holiday

Gas prices continued their decline, yet at a much slower pace than the double-digit weekly declines seen in October. The national average price for a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline dropped to $3.43 Friday, just 3 cents lower than a week ago, yet 33 cents less expensive than one month ago.

VMI falls to Army, 80-74

The VMI Keydets had cut a double-digit deficit down to just one with under five minutes to go, thanks to five straight points by Stan Okoye, but the Army Black Knights answered with a 6-0 run and went on to defeat the Keydets, 80-74, in the third-place game of the All-Military Classic, contested Sunday in Charleston, S.C.

With the defeat, the Dukes fell to 7-3 and 5-2 in CAA play, while the Wildcats improved to 7-3 and 5-2 in league action.
