A free seminar will be provided at the Best Western-Waynesboro to help parents have more open conversations about sex and healthy relationships with their children. The keynote speaker will be Dan Rice of Rutgers University, a nationally recognized trainer. Limited seating is available, so parents are advised to arrive early.

Waynesboro Downtown Development Inc. executive director Kimberly Watters has retired from her position. Watters, who was in the post for six years, retired effective Nov. 1. She noted in a statement the “organizational challenges” faced in Waynesboro, most notably reductions in city funding that have threatened the future of WDDI for several years.

Families in the Waynesboro-Augusta County area can get an early meeting with Santa Claus on Saturday, Dec. 14, 8-10 a.m. at the Waynesboro Family YMCA. Tickets will be on sale Nov. 18-27 for the event. Tickets are $5 for YMCA Childcare participants and $7 for the general public.

The Waynesboro YMCA is hosting Halloween Basketball, a Halloween event for local middle- and high-school students, on Thursday night. Sponsored by the YMCA, Central Shenandoah Office on Youth, the Waynesboro Police Department, the Waynesboro-East Augusta Rotary Club, and the Boys & Girls Club.
