Waynesboro woman charged with threatening school bus driver

AFP

policecar3A Waynesboro woman has been charged after an incident last month in which she boarded a Waynesboro Public Schools bus and cursed and threatened the driver in front of a busload of students.

Nina Jean Selmon, 31, was charged with two misdemeanors, disorderly conduct and trespassing on school property.  The incident took place in the afternoon on March 27 when the bus stopped at the intersection of Shenandoah Avenue and Hamlet Avenue to let off high school and middle school students.

Selmon, who was waiting at the stop, got on the bus to confront the male driver.  The bus driver told her repeatedly to leave the bus but Selmon refused and cursed him several times in front of approximately 35 students.  She eventually got off the bus, giving the driver an obscene hand gesture in the process.   Selmon accused the driver of causing her son to be disciplined by school administrators for bad behavior.

Selmon is due in Waynesboro General District Court on April 25 for an advisement hearing.

A reader, and longtime critic, whose last email to me, before last week, was to criticize us for “political blather” that “charades as journalism,” because he didn’t like a report on a local political candidate, took a different tone on our reporting on the situation facing Waynesboro Public Schools.
