What am I saying when I say that Waynesboro has potential? For starters, that Waynesboro has empty buildings. That’s certainly part of it. Big buildings empty downtown. The old Kmart building out on West Main has been empty for 15 years.

Readers of The News Virginian selected the Waynesboro YMCA as the top gym/fitness center and the top childcare provider in the paper’s annual Valley Favorites poll.

Chris Delaughter is excited about the possibilities with her new job as operations director at the Waynesboro YMCA. “With the plans for future expansion and program expansion here, there are a lot of opportunities here,” said Delaughter, a James Madison University alum and resident of Mount Jackson.

In the continuing effort to revitalize Downtown Waynesboro, the City of Waynesboro will host a series of public meetings the week of September 23rd to 26th as part of a Brownfield Charrette.

The Waynesboro Public Library has a new reading incentive program aimed at children from birth through age five and their caregivers. Called Book A Day, the goal is to encourage parents to read to their children.
