Pedestrian struck, killed on Waynesboro roadway

policecar3The Waynesboro Police Department is currently investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred this afternoon in the 1300 block of Rosser Avenue. Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:32 p.m. where they found the 43-year-old victim had been struck by a 2005 International Dump Truck in the north bound lanes.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was walking south when he suddenly fell or jumped into the path of the northbound truck, which was being operated by a 46-year-old Churchville man.

The victim is identified as Patrick Edison Grant of Waynesboro, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin has been notified and an autopsy, which is standard procedure in such incidents, has been ordered.

This incident remains under investigation.
