Waynesboro police: Nearly 50 vehicle break-ins since Thanksgiving

The Waynesboro Police Department is cautioning citizens and city travelers of the ongoing threat of vehicle burglaries during the holidays. Since Thanksgiving, the Police Department has received nearly 50 calls for service regarding a vehicle being entered and valuables being stolen. Most of these incidents happen in groups and are usually situated in the same area of the city.

Augusta County man arrested after Waynesboro standoff

The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested an Augusta County man on multiple charges from three other jurisdictions after a brief standoff at a city residence earlier today. Joshua Daniel Isaksen, 32, was wanted by the Sheriff’s Departments of Augusta County, Nelson County and Rockbridge County since Nov. 3.

The Concise Dickens’ Christmas Carol at the Gateway in Waynesboro

The Wayne Theatre Alliance’s Gateway will bring The Concise Dickens’ Christmas Carol as part of WTA’s holiday entertainment. The seasonal favorite of Hampton Roads’ audiences will be presented on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Advanced tickets for The Concise Dickens’ Christmas Carol are available for $5 for children under 12 and $10 for adults.

Kansas State coach Bruce Weber in Waynesboro to watch FMS recruit Tre’ Harris

Tre’ Harris has already signed with Kansas State, so it’s not like Bruce Weber needed to do any selling on the Fishburne Military School combo guard. But Weber was in Waynesboro just the same on Saturday to see Harris (6’5, 180, Glen Carbon, Ill.) score 13 points to help the second-ranked Caissons postgrad basketball team to a 76-63 win over Kiski School (Pa.).

Waynesboro Moose Lodge provides Thanksgiving to Vector Industries

The Waynesboro Moose Lodge 1309 hosts a Thanksgiving meal for employees at Vector Industries in Waynesboro each year. The 2013 meal marked the 31st year that the Moose Lodge has done this for Vector employees. The occasion includes a turkey meal with all the fixings and a DJ playing music for employees to have some fun dancing to.

Waynesboro couple arrested in sophisticated marijuana grow operation

The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a Waynesboro couple on drug and weapons charges after a sophisticated marijuana “grow operation” was located at a city residence. Derick Heath Ackleson, 42, and Amy Mary Snead, 33, both face a felony charge of the manufacture of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
