WVPT to present Ethan Bortnick Live in Concert: The Power of Music

WVPT Public Television, serving the Shenandoah Valley and Central and Northern Virginia, announces the premiere of Ethan Bortnick Live in Concert: The Power of Music, Dec. 4 at 8 p.m.

afp_wvptAt 12 years old, Bortnick—the youngest performer ever to headline his own international concert tour—has so far appeared in more than 200 concerts in the United States, Canada, Brazil, South Africa and Australia. He will perform in Charlottesville atThe Paramount Theater May 24, 2014.

Viewers are encouraged to tune in Dec. 4 to watch the prodigal composer, pianist and entertainer accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra, band and 120-member kids choir in a program that had the live audience dancing in the aisles. Among Bortnick’s selections are Frédéric Chopin’s “Minute Waltz” and favorites such as “Rock Around the Clock,” “Lean On Me,” “Earth Song” and “Crocodile Rock.” Special guests Damian McGinty of Glee and Celtic Thunder and Grammy-nominated vocalist Jane Monheit join Bortnick for a moving rendition of “We Are the World.”

“We are excited to showcase Ethan’s talent and spirit through this fun-filled broadcast for all ages,” said WVPT President and General Manager David Mullins. “This is a fantastic program to sit down and watch with family as the holiday season nears as well as a sneak peak of the excitement Ethan will bring to Charlottesville next year.”

Ethan Bortnick Live in Concert: The Power of Music is presented by WTTW National Productions and distributed nationally by The National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA).
