The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum in Staunton will host its annual Woodrow Wilson Birthday Open House on Sunday, Dec. 28.
“As we celebrate Wilson’s birthday on Dec. 28, we look forward to welcoming neighbors and visitors alike to the Birthplace and Museum. We hope visitors will take this chance to learn more about his era and how it connects to today,” said Robin von Seldeneck, president and CEO at WWPL.
Woo, boy, a complicated history there, with Woodrow Wilson – academic, governor of New Jersey, two-term POTUS, re-segregated the federal bureaucracy, gleefully screened a KKK propaganda movie at the White House, turned a blind eye to hundreds killed in lynch mobs.
We won’t be touching on that so much on Dec. 28.
Per the press release on the event, members of the Pierce-Arrow Committee will be on hand to provide information about President Wilson’s 1919 Pierce-Arrow presidential limousine.
Hey, I get it.
I was born in Staunton, grew up in Augusta County – my National Honor Society gold chord ceremony was held at WWPL.
A guy who would go on to become POTUS was born here.
That’s the big deal.
