Virginia State Police: Harrisonburg man dead after crash near Skyline Drive

A Harrisonburg man is dead after a crash on U.S. 33, approximately one mile east of the Skyline Drive, on Thursday night.

Samuel Cordova, 45, died at the scene.

The fatal crash occurred at 5:37 p.m. in Greene County, according to Virginia State Police.

The investigation found that Cordova was traveling east on Spotswood Trail in a Chrysler Sebring. He attempted to overtake another vehicle when he crossed into the westbound lane and then swerved, overcorrected, lost control and struck a Volvo XC60.

The driver of the Volvo was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
